Without the support of organizations such as Gallagher, we couldn't even dream of the impact that we are currently having.
—Jeff Griffin, Director, Franciscan Center
From board service to pro bono work to investing our time and resources into community organizations, Gallagher is committed to giving back. Why? Giving back strengthens our team, deepens our sense of purpose, and benefits our community.
Today our more than 100 lawyers and staff members at Gallagher volunteer for more than 75 organizations. Gallagher lawyers serve on more than 50 boards of nonprofits and other community organizations, and our lawyers contribute thousands of pro bono hours annually.
It is a privilege to serve as an attorney, and our lawyers give back in many ways, including serving in leadership roles for legal service providers.
As a firm, Gallagher volunteers time and financial resources to many organizations that are working to make our community better, such as cultural institutions, schools, social service providers, religious entities, legal service providers, and other charitable organizations. We engage in civic activities and projects in partnership with government leaders and others in order to launch and advance initiatives that benefit Baltimore and the surrounding region. We directly represent individuals in need of legal service such as tenants in rent court, criminal defendants in post-conviction proceedings, migrants in need of asylum, homeowners who are facing the loss of their homes due to foreclosure or tax sale, and veterans in need of legal services. We also roll up our sleeves and participate in community service projects such as serving food to our neighbors at the Franciscan Center and working in community gardens and forests.
Giving back is ingrained in our firm and it always has been. It’s one of our firm’s core values. Coming together for pro bono work and community service creates a legacy that we intend to continue for many years to come.
There was never any question that Ward would devote time and resources to representing poor clients when he became a lawyer. He has certainly done that—and much more—since becoming a lawyer in 1973.
Gallagher's second annual Pro Bono event was an important celebration for the firm.
Gallagher attorneys, paralegals, and summer associates enjoyed helping to provide clients with "a clean slate."
Each month Gallagher staff, family, and friends volunteer to serve hot meals to guests of the Franciscan Center.
