Gallagher Evelius & Jones LLP is pleased to announce that Ward B. Coe III received the Benjamin L. Cardin Public Service Award on November 18, 2014 for his significant contributions to furthering the ideals of public service in the law.
Both in and out of the courtroom, Ward has been active in pro bono work throughout his more than three decades in private practice. In 1986, Ward began representing foster children in Baltimore trying to reform the child welfare system. From 2002 until 2012, Ward served as Chair of the Maryland Court of Appeals Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Service. In that role, Ward was instrumental in setting up pro bono projects for lawyers to engage in throughout Maryland.
As recipient of the Benjamin L. Cardin Public Service Award, Ward joins the ranks of not only Senator Benjamin Cardin, but many of Maryland’s distinguished state and federal court judges, lawyers in public and private practice, and Gallagher’s own Richard O. Berndt.
